Chirag Paswan's Strong Message to BJP

Chirag Paswan, the national president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), issued a stern warning to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, emphasizing that as long as he holds the position of a central minister, he is also accountable for the responsibilities that come with it. This statement comes at a time when there is ongoing tension regarding seat allocations within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.

When journalists inquired about the seat-sharing discussions among NDA members for the Bihar elections, Paswan remarked that negotiations are ongoing and that he has other responsibilities to attend to. He stated, 'As long as I am a minister, I have to fulfill those duties. I am heading to the ministry now.' This comment is perceived as a strategy to exert pressure for more seats for his party, LJP (Ram Vilas), in the Bihar elections. Following a successful performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where LJP (Ram Vilas) won all five contested seats, Paswan aims to contest between 40 to 50 seats, although the BJP has only offered around 20 seats.

It is noteworthy that Paswan's party contested the 2020 Bihar elections independently, fielding candidates in 137 constituencies, primarily against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United (JD-U). However, LJP managed to secure victory in only one seat.
